Telefunken North America, wiiner of this year’s TEC Award for StudioMicrophone Technology, is exhibiting at NAMM for the first time atbooth #6999. The two-year-old company manufactures a full line ofhand-built condenser microphones, including the Ela M 251; thisreproduction of the legendary Ela M 251 has been used in the filmindustry in movies such as Seabiscuit and Scary MovieIII.
Following in the tradition of handcrafted vintage microphones, theexpanded ELEKTROAKUSTIC line now includes the Ela M 12, Ela M 14, Ela M270 (Stereo version of the 251) and the U47.
The new cardioid-only Telefunken Ela M 14 tube microphone willdebut at Winter NAMM; the Ela M 14 features a single-sidedCK-12-inspired capsule, NOS Telefunken EF732 tube and customtransformer. The M 14 is the first original design microphone fromTelefunken NA, taking the best elements of the Ela M 251 and the Ela M12 and combining them into a new and affordable version.
Telefunken NA is hosting a gala listening party at Ocean Way’srenowned Record One Recording Studios, on the evening of Friday,January 16, from 7 to 11 p.m. Studio owner and engineer Allen Sideswill man the console with performances by the Howard Fishman Quartet, apopular jazz ensemble.
