Universal Audio appointed industry veteran Matt Ward as its new president; Ward joined the company in January 2002 as a VP of sales and marketing.

Prior to joining Universal Audio, Ward was director of Internet business at Liquid Audio, where he headed up the company’s efforts to promote its online music-distribution technology to musicians and independent record labels. He also worked as a DAW product manager for Studer and Otari before joining E-mu Systems in 1994, where he presided over the launch of the Emulator IV and ESI-32 samplers and Darwin disc recorders.

“Matt has the tenacity and vision to help Universal Audio advance and move to the next level,” said Universal Audio CES Bill Putnam Jr. “The immense popularity of our hardware the UAD-1 needs a real experienced individual to guide an expansion in our manufacturing and distribution channels.”
