MICROTECH GEFELL MV230 DIGITAL/MK221
June 2005—Microtech Gefell expanded its line of excellent measurement mics — insiders know how good these really are. The MV230 Digital/MK221 package combines a ½-inch capsule condenser mic with onboard 24-bit A/D converter and AES43/AES3 output with a pocket-sized adapter providing USB for interfacing with laptops for field measurements. Also new is the M950, a wide-cardioid version of the company’s popular studio condensers with 7dBA self-noise and the same pricing as the M930.
MICROTECH GEFELL M300
March 2005–The Microtech Gefell (www.microtechgefell.de) M300 is a miniature pencil, cardioid studio condenser. The mic combines a 16mm, gold-evaporated diaphragm with the company’s new M3 ceramic capsule. The M300 provides optical isolation for low noise. The M960 is a compact, large-diaphragm, omnidirectional microphone with a large gold capsule that has been corrected for the diffuse field to record the acoustic ambience of a performance by hanging the mic above and ahead of the source. The M296S is an omnidirectional microphone that features a pure-nickel diaphragm. MICROTECH GEFELL UM75
March 2005—Gefell’s UM75 Anniversary Commemorative is a large-diaphragm, multipattern replica of the UM57 tube mic. The microphone employs omni, cardioid and figure-8 patterns, and uses the original M7 capsule found in the legendary Neumann UM57. Further, this special-edition microphone uses the vintage EF86 tube, custom-wound transformer and the original hammered metal-gray patina finish. Only 75 microphones will be produced.
MICROTECH GEFELL INA5 5.1 SURROUND BRACKET
October 2003—The Gefell INA5 is a microphone holder for 5.1
recording applications. Designed for use typically with five
cardioid-pattern large-diaphragm microphones (e.g., the Gefell M930
cardioid or M940 supercardioid), the INA5 makes the optimal setup of
5.1 recording easy. Velcro™ bands control the arrangement of the
mic cables for a neat and professional surround recording setup.
MICROTECH GEFELL M990
August 2003—Microtech Gefell offers its M990 (pictured) ($2,400)
large-diaphragm cardioid tube mic. The mic’s low-noise tube design,
large gold-evaporated M9 capsule and extended low-end response add
punch and clarity. Housed on a “triangulated” pedestal that
deflects sound refractions away from the capsule (helping reduce phase
cancellation and comb filtering), the M990 is housed in a slim-line
tubular body with a dark bronze finish. Switching from 110V to 220V
operation is as easy as rotating the unit’s fuse housing.
MICROTECH GEFELL INA 5
April 2003—Intended for 5.1 recording, Microtech Gefell’s new INA
5 support is a multimic mount for five cardioid mics. MG recommends its
low-noise M930s, but it works fine with any quality studio cardioids.
Mics can be placed anywhere along the INA 5’s arms for adjusting the
field.
MICROTECH GEFELL CONDENSERS
January 2003—Microtech Gefell offers three new condensers: the
M294 and M295 cardioids, and the M296 omnidirectional. All three
48-volt, phantom-powered mics feature a nickel diaphragm less than 0.9
microns thick, and include 10dB pads and highpass filters. The M294 has
a natural presence rise at 8 kHz, while the M295 has a flat upper end
with a low-frequency roll. The omni M296 has a flat 20-20k Hz response.
Also offered is the M930 XY Stereo Pack, a stereo kit that packages two
matched M930 large-diaphragm cardioids, an innovative X/Y stand adapter
