November 9, 2003: Lodi Crane Festival Tour #40 will visit California’s Central Valley locales with Paul Matzner, curator of the California Library of Natural Sounds of the Oakland Museum. The trip will focus on the spectacular group behavior and vocalizations of Sandhill Cranes and other wintering waterbirds, and will include a introduction to nature sound recording. December 6, 2003: listening party and pot-luck dinner at Dan Dugan’s Studio in San Francisco. Bring your favorite sounds and a dish to share. NSS will compare sounds in mono, stereo and surround sound formats. Contact [email protected] for further information.

June 18-20, 2004: NSS 20th Annual Field Workshop, “Surrounded BySound.” The technical focus of this workshop will be on recording and mixing techniques to create surround natural soundscape recordings. Contact [email protected] for further information.
