The Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Oberlin, Ohio) recently completeda major upgrade to their state-of-the-art recording facilities, whichincluded four Grace Design model 801R 8-channel remote-controlmicrophone preamplifiers, as well as a model 901 reference headphoneamplifier. The sale was handled by Grace Design dealer Sweetwater inFort Wayne, Ind.

The Conservatory records over 450 concerts per year including jazz,early music, opera, orchestra, electronic music, chamber music, inaddition to a multitude of other classical formats. The 801Rs are usedas the primary microphone preamplifiers in each of two control rooms aswell as two mobile recording configurations. The 801R outputs feedmultichannel, high-definition A/D converters, which, in turn, connectto a number of digital recording systems the Conservatory employs. Themodel 801R systems were chosen for their exceptional sonic performanceand reliability.
