On February 16-18, 2004, Production Resource Group (PRG) delivered its first Qualified V-DOSC Technician (QVT) training course to a class of 14 audio technicians at the company’s Las Vegas operations facility. The course was taught by Martyn (“Ferrit”) Rowe, a member of PRG’s ProMix Electrotec audio subsidiary. Rowe is one of only two certified trainers of the QVT course in North America, and is the only trainer not employed by L-Acoustics, the V-DOSC system’s manufacturer.

The QVT course involved three days of classroom and hands-on training. Day 1 was focused on the fundamentals of line source array theory, and day 2 involved classroom modeling of audio configurations using the Array 2004 software program. On day 3, hands-on practice in system tuning, alignment and rigging was provided in the PRG audio shop. Throughout the course, advanced theories and practices of current V-DOSC experts were introduced.

The students included a mix of freelance engineers and technicians from several audio rental companies. Graduates of the course received the official L-Acoustics attire signifying that they are Qualified V-DOSC Technicians.

“L-Acoustics offers cutting-edge technology in its V-DOSC systems,” stated Rowe. “By providing this training, we’re helping the entertainment industry implement the many benefits of this superior audio technology.”
