February 2009—Designed for vocal use but equally at home in front of high-SPL sources, the M1 features a solid die-cast body, steel pop filter/grille and a cardioid dynamic capsule. The M1's 75 to 18k Hz frequency response has a slight LF bump to add warmth and a +3dB presence boost peaking around 8 kHz to help vocals cut through the mix. Its cardioid pattern remains uniform at nearly all frequencies for max feedback rejection. Sensitivity is stated as -56dB, ±2dB 1V/Pa (1.6 mV @ 94 dB) at 1 kHz. Retail is $199 with stand clip and protective pouch.

April 2008—For broadcasting and location recording, RØDE unveils the NTG-3 (street price $599), its third-generation shotgun mic design. The 10-inch-long, ¾-inch-diameter body is ideal for on-camera, boom or handheld use; it features low handling noise and ultralow self-noise. (EIN is 13 dBA per IEC 651.) The externally RF-biased, true condenser capsule has a high level of RFI rejection and requires standard 48VDC phantom power. The Aussie-made mic includes a mic clip, windscreen, carry pouch and a nearly indestructible aluminum storage/transport cylinder for maximum protection. Options include mini- and full-sized extendable boom poles, shock-mounts and a fur-style windshield.

March 2008—RØDE previewed a high-performance shotgun mic (shipping around NAB) that slides into a foam-lined, indestructible aluminum transport case that resembles a Maglite flashlight and is ideal for location work. The company also announced "RØDE University", a Website hosting entertaining instructional videos on its entire line of mic products.

March 2007—For field or studio use, RØDE's M3 condenser runs on standard 48V or a 9V battery.

February 2007—The RØDE NT4 ($899) is housed in a heavy-duty, cast-metal body with a satin-nickel finish. Its two half-inch cardioid capsules with gold-sputtered diaphragms offer X/Y miking fixed at a 90-degree angle. The NT4 has a self-noise of 16 dBA and handles 143dB SPLs. Stated response is 20 to 20k Hz, and the mic offers selectable 9V battery or phantom power operation at 12, 24 or 48V and includes an LED power indicator. The NT4 includes a custom carry case, windshield, XLR-to-mini-jack adapter and dual XLR cables.

November 2006—New mics just keep coming. Designed for Podcasting, RØDE’s Podcaster end-address dynamic has a USB output, tailored-for-voice response and built-in headphone amp for monitoring.

October 2006—The NT55 has the same sound quality, ease of use and reliability of the NT5, but with the added features of a two-stage highpass filter and a two-stage pad. RØDE has also included a free NT45-O omni capsule in every NT55 kit. Along with the supplied NT45-C cardioid capsule, this makes the NT55 an unbeatable package for anyone wanting the most versatile small-capsule system on the market.

October 2006—The world’s first USB dynamic microphone specifically suited to Podcasting, the Podcaster features an end-address configuration, the clarity of RØDE’s tailored-for-voice frequency response, ultralow self-noise, a status LED and a direct output headphone amplifier (with volume control). The Podcaster comes with a 5-meter USB cable and clip. Optional extras include a shock-mounting system and soon-to-be-released adjustable table-mount arm.

November 2005—RODE’s $499 NT-6 is a small-diaphragm mic with the cardioid condenser capsule separated from the body by a 3-meter Kevlar-covered cable—ideal for hanging or difficult placements.

October 2005—New at AES is the RØDE NT6, featuring a small independently positioned capsule head and remote balanced output preamp connected via a custom 3-meter, Kevlar-reinforced low-loss cable.

October 2005—At AES, RØDE will introduce one of the most exciting new microphones to be released in the past decade. With the unprecedented success of the VideoMic, RØDE releases VideoMic II, an on-camera stereo microphone that rivals the performance of many high-end stereo shotguns.

September 2005—The VideoMic from RØDE Microphones ($249) is a professional-grade shotgun mic designed specifically for use with prosumer DV camcorders. This supercardioid condenser model is powered by a standard 9V battery (providing more than 100 hours of operation) and features a low-battery LED indicator, a switchable -12dB/octave 80Hz lowcut filter, a foam windscreen and an integral elastic suspension shock-mount. The VideoMic attaches to any camera with a standard hot-shoe fitting and has a stereo mini jack output cable. Optional accessories include a mini tripod mic stand, 1/8-inch-to-XLR adapter and the RØDE DeadCat, a fur-style windsock for use in high-wind conditions.

July 2005—The S1 ($599) from RØDE employs a true condenser transducer tailored to ensure clear vocals and reduce handling noise. The S1's supercardioid pickup pattern increases rejection of background noise and reduces susceptibility to feedback. A five-piece mesh grille filters breath, wind and plosive noise without interfering with the S1's sensitivity or frequency response; it also protects the transducer from airborne contaminants and impacts. The S1 requires 48V phantom power, and its electronically balanced, high output reduces loss over long cable runs and maintains rejection of electromagnetic interference. Frequency response is 20 to 20k Hz with a max. SPL of 151 dB (0.7% THD); impedance is 50 ohms.

March 2005—The NT2-A from RØDE is a large-capsule (1-inch) condenser with variable polar patterns, variable highpass filter and a variable pad. Three 3-position switches on the mic body provide the ability to step from figure-8, cardioid or omni patterns; from a flat response to either 80Hz or 40Hz highpass filter; and a pad adjustment of 0, -5 or -10dB attenuation. The NT2-A uses the company's type-HF1 dual-diaphragm capsule.

August 2003—The satin-nickel-finished NT-1A (pictured) ($349) from RØDE Microphones is an externally polarized, 1-inch diaphragm condenser using a J-FET impedance converter with bipolar output. Featuring 20 to 20k Hz frequency response, 132dB dynamic range and 137dB max SPL, the new NT1-A “Anniversary Model” is a complete redesign of the popular RØDE NT1 studio mic. August 2002—The stereo NT4 ($899) is a cardioid true condenser with two 1/2-inch capsules mounted in a 90-degree X-Y arrangement. Suited for studio or location recording, the NT4 includes XLR and mini jack cables, and it can operate on phantom power or a single 9V battery. Specs include a 20 to 20k Hz response, 128dB dynamic range, 143dB SPL handling and 78dB signal-to-noise ratio. RØDE's NT5 ($599) is a matched pair of cardioid condensers offering stereo recording at a more affordable price. The NT5 is sold as a set with two matched mics, a custom-molded carry case, two stand adapters and a pair of foam screens—all weighing just four pounds complete. March 2002—At Winter NAMM, RØDE debuted the NT4, a stereo mic with two 1/2-inch capsules in an X-Y configuration; the unit includes custom stereo cables with both XLR and 1/4-inch connections.

July 2001—The latest from RØDE out of Australia is the NTK ($999), a 1-inch large-capsule model. Featuring a gold-plated membrane and low noise specs, the NTK sports hand-graded twin-triode tubes and comes with a power supply, 30-foot multicore cable and a standmount with thread adapter; options include an externally polarized, 1-inch, pressure-gradient condenser and a special-design shock-mount. This cardioid mic features a 147dBA dynamic range and a maximum SPL of 158 dB, and its external power supply has user-selectable settings.
