The European AES Convention, taking place March 22 to 25, 2003, in Amsterdam, will include new events that will appeal to exhibitors, engineers and scientists, as well as members of the recording, broadcasting and sound reinforcement communities.

New to the AES convention program are the Exhibitor Seminars, which link the exhibition with the convention program. This new addition provides participating manufacturers with an opportunity to present comprehensive product introductions and give visitors a chance to explore recent product developments in full detail.

The Papers program includes 120 papers to be presented in 13 sessions, as well as 50 Posters. Because engineers and developers can demonstrate their latest work with a more practical view than in a normal paper session, many recognized authors have opted to participate in a poster rather than paper.

Workshops at the 114th Convention will present current technologies in a more practical and interactive way. Discussions between the panelists and the audience provide real-world solutions to everyday practical problems. A new workshop, “The Value of Information,” will focus on generating new income streams for producers. The workshops program spans the spectrum of audio topics, including surround sound,  PCM vs. DSD coding, MPEG-4 audio development and a host of  others.

Being introduced to the AES convention program is the Tutorial Seminar, in which the principles of audio will be explained in regard to subjects including digital audio, room acoustics, audio level measurements and the set up of  a 5.1 playback system. These seminars offer essential information about the most important topics of today’s audio technology and are intended both as an introduction to, and refresher course of these topics for people from all backgrounds in Pro-Audio. Additonal information on the 114th Convention, including program details, and registration and hotel information will be available shortly at www.aes.org
