Sennheiser Sponsors MS Fundraiser

Sennheiser was one of the main sponsors of a VIP reception and award ceremony honoring Jim Koplik, president of Clear Channel Entertainment CT - Music, as the MS Connecticut Citizen of the Year.

Sennheiser was one of the main sponsors of a VIP reception and awardceremony honoring Jim Koplik, president of Clear ChannelEntertainment-CT Music (pictured, in middle), as the MS ConnecticutCitizen of the Year. The fundraiser, in support of the National MSSociety, Greater Connecticut Chapter, was preceded by a concert bySennheiser endorsee Sting.

Held at the careerbuilder.com Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford,Connecticut on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, the Gala began at 5:00 p.m.followed by the concert at 7:30 p.m. The honoree received the MS HopeAward, the highest honor bestowed by the National MS Society.

The MS Connecticut Citizen of the Year Gala annually honors anindividual who exemplifies extraordinary business leadership,outstanding civic and community service and a longstanding commitmentto humanitarian endeavors. Koplik is a highly respected andaccomplished Connecticut leader whom the National MS Society ishonoring for his outstanding contribution to the community in thestate.

Connecticut’s top music impresario, Koplik has been producingconcerts in the state for more than 30 years, and currently overseesthe shows at the careerbuilder.com Oakdale Theater, ctnow.com MeadowsMusic Centre, Mohegan Sun Arena and most concerts at the Hartford CivicCenter. The music mogul has produced all of the state’s mostsignificant concerts, including The Eagles at the Yale Bowl in 1980,the Rolling Stones in all their Connecticut appearances, PaulMcCartney, Billy Joel, Elton John and many, many more.

Most recently, he was instrumental in bringing Bruce Springsteen toEast Hartford’s Rentschler Field, the new University of Connecticutfootball stadium.

Proceeds from the Gala fundraiser will provide necessary localprograms and services and fund vital research to find the cause, newtreatments and a cure for multiple sclerosis. The mission of theNational MS Society is to end the devastating effects of multiplesclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often-disabling disease of thecentral nervous system. Most people with MS are diagnosed between theages of 20 and 50, but the unpredictable physical and emotional affectscan be life-long. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS inany one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research andtreatment are giving hope to those affected by the disease.
