SLS Loudspeakers offers a new version of its Line Array Simulation Software (LASS), which now includes an Optimizations module that dramatically reduces the time required for line array configuration and rigging parameters design.

With common and known input parameters such as SLS model numbers, approximate number of boxes in the array, total vertical coverage angle based on the system’s height, system position and listening area being entered, the LASS program can optimize the number of boxes and proper splay angles between each of the boxes, maximizing coverage. LASS intuitively implements the progressive splay algorithm for optimization.

Because optimization criteria is based on minimum SPL deviation throughout the listening area, the number of boxes can be fixed by the designer, allowing unique project budget and size constraints to be factored in the overall design consideration. The user may also opt to portray max SPL levels displayed over the entire listening area. Both max SPL and SPL deviation can be depicted in several chosen octave frequency bands, enabling the designer to more accurately specify proper speaker models.
