The C4 is a small-diaphragm FET condenser microphone featuringinterchangeable capsules, switchable –10dB pad/highpass filter,and a linear low-noise, solid-state amplifier body.
Features include 40-20k Hz frequency response, sensitivity of 12mV/Pa, output impedance of 200 ohms, load impedance of 1,200 ohms, maxSPL of 150 dB with –10dB pad and S/N ratio of 78 dB. Alsostandard is a gold-plated, 3-pin XLR connector.
As a cardioid (pressure-gradient) mic, the C4 provides excellentpickup of on-axis sources, while attenuating extraneous sound occurringfrom around and behind the mic, making it ideal for close-mikingindividual instruments where bleed from nearby instruments or sound isundesirable. The C4 cardioids can also be used as stereo pairs forcoincident and near-coincident miking techniques (X-Y and ORTF).Additionally, the C4s can be used as drum overheads or on toms. Used asan omni-directional (pressure) mic, the C4 is recommended to be usedfor close-miking in acoustical environments.
