TC Electronic will put up for auction on eBay a gold anodizedcollector’s edition Lab.gruppen fP6400 power amplifier and will donatethe proceeds to the John Muldowney Memorial Fund. The auction will beheld from Monday, November 17, to Wednesday, November 26, and can befound by searching for “Lab.gruppen fP6400.”

John Muldowney (pictured, right), a well-known and much-respectedlive soundman and audio engineer, died suddenly on November 2 from aheart attack shortly before soundcheck at a concert for World Peace.Also known by colleagues as Johnny Moe or Moe, Muldowney worked livesound for nearly 30 years on concerts ranging from Bruce Springsteen toDavid Lee Roth and from Shania Twain to New Kids on the Block.Muldowney co-founded the sound production company Scorpio Sound Systemswith Gary King.

“John was one of the ones who made it happen,” George Travis, BruceSpringsteen’s tour director, told The Boston Globe. “He couldwalk into a big hall or stadium and figure out how to make the speakerssound correctly and then sit down at a soundboard and mix the sound, aswell.”

King, who founded Scorpio Sound with Muldowney, described him as aman at peace with himself. “He knew how to deal with all kinds ofpeople—often under stress—including entertainers who thinkthey are special.”

“When Gary told us about the memorial fund that had been set up forJohn’s family, I knew right away we would help. By donating theamplifier, we hope more people will become aware of John’s contributionto the live sound industry and the help his family needs just now,”said Ed Simeone, president of TC Electronic. “We chose the eBay forumas the best place to see an immediate result and all proceeds from theamp will go directly to the John Muldowney Memorial Fund.”
