TEC Awards Winners!

The Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio has announced the winners for the 17th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, held at the New York

The Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio has announced the winnersfor the 17th Annual Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, heldat the New York Marriott Marquis, Saturday, December 1.

Hosting the ceremony (“for the fourth or fifth time–I don’tremember which”) was popular comedian and Vatican correspondent FatherGuido Sarducci. He was joined on stage by an array of famous figuresfrom the world of music and recording, including renownedengineer/producer Phil Ramone, who inducted the legendary engineer RoyHalee into the TEC Hall of Fame; and musical icon Les Paul and guitarvirtuoso Larry Carlton, who co-presented the Les Paul Award to SteelyDan (Walter Becker and Donald Fagen.)

Presenting TEC Awards in 23 categories of Technical and CreativeAchievement were engineer/producers George Massenburg and ElliotScheiner; producer Tony Maserati; sound designer/engineers Abe Jacoband John Kilgore; studio executives Simon Andrews and Zoe Thrall;guitarist Carlos Alomar and audio manufacturer Eveanna Manley.

Proceeds of the TEC Awards are donated to hearing conservationprograms of the House Ear Institute and H.E.A.R., as well as toscholarship programs in the audio arts and sciences.
