Two New Categories for Emmys

The National Awards Committee has approved two new awards in the category of Advanced Media Technology to be included in the National Television Academy

The National Awards Committee has approved two new awards in thecategory of Advanced Media Technology to be included in the NationalTelevision Academy Science & Technology Awards. The Advanced MediaTechnology Emmys will honor excellence in Interactive Television andNew Media content and applications.

The Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for theEnhancement of Original Television Content award will recognize work inareas of advanced-media technology that enhance or improve programmingintended for delivery and display by traditional broadcast means,including network, cable and satellite distribution. Advanced-mediatechnology for the programming enhancements mean technology orprogramming that was developed or implemented for nonlinear or linearuse or delivery, including, but not limited to television, Internet,computers, videogame or other user interfaces.

The Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for theCreation of Non-Traditional Programs or Platforms award recognizes awork developed for delivery and display by no-traditional and/ornonlinear programming, including systems, EPGs, user interfaces,one-screen or two-screen applications, CD-ROM, DVD, computer and videogames with broadcast components, etc. Entries (there is an entry fee of$200) must be received by the National Academy of Television Arts &Sciences no later than August 11, 2003. A panel of highly qualifiedprofessionals, drawn from the industry, will consider allsubmissions.
