Universal Audio Debuts TDM Software Plug-In for Digidesign Pro Tools|HD

Universal Audio debuted TDM versions of its popular Powered Plug-Ins for Digidesign Pro Tools|HD at Winter NAMM; the 1176LN and LA-2A are the first plugs-in 1/21/2003 7:00 AM Eastern

Universal Audio debuted TDM versions of its popular Powered Plug-Insfor Digidesign Pro Tools|HD at Winter NAMM; the 1176LN and LA-2A arethe first plugs-in available for TDM, along with the Pultec EQ and thenew high-end Cambridge EQ.

Universal Audio TDM HD plug-ins will begin shipping throughUniversal Audio dealers and distributors worldwide in February2003. The MSRP for 1176LN, LA-2A, Pultec and Cambridge will be$395. Universal Audio will also offer three bundles: both compressorsin a bundle with an MSRP of $695; both EQs in a bundle with an MSRP of$695; and all four plug-ins in a "Studio Bundle" with an MSRP of$1,295, all of which will ship in February.

Universal Audio also announced three new versions of its SmartcodePro TDM plug-ins, all of which are also compatible with Digidesign'sPro Tools|HD format. The Surround Encoders for DTS and Dolby DVDhave been upgraded along with the DTS CD version. All existing users ofthese plug-ins will be able to upgrade for a $99 charge.

SmartCode Pro DTS-DVD (MSRP $1,495), SmartCode Pro DTS-CD (MSRP$495) and SmartCode Dolby (MSRP $795) are now available from UniversalAudio-authorized dealers and distributors. Registered owners of theexisting Kind of Loud SmartCode TDM encoders will be able to upgrade tothe new HD-compatible Universal Audio version for $99.

The company has also begun shipping its new 6176 channel strip,which combines Universal Audio's 2-610 microphone/instrumentpreamplifier and the 1176LN compressor into a single "channel strip"product.

The 6176 features several improvements over the stand-alone 2-610mic preamp and 1176LN compressor, including a 15dB pad for the mic preand "split and join" modes, which allow the preamp and compressorsections to be used in series like a typical channel strip product, orseparately via separate inputs and outputs on the back panel.

The 6176, a single, horizontal rackmount unit, has a suggested U.S.retail price of $2,495, and is now available from Universal Audiodealers worldwide.
