Acoustical Surfaces, Inc. Provides Sound Control Inside the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor

NEW WINDSOR, NY, OCTOBER 5, 2015 – When Split Rock Studios, a company specializing in creating cultural and natural history exhibits, was called upon to help redesign the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, it employed the help of Acoustical Surfaces, Inc., a pioneer in the business of controlling sound. To balance the acoustics of the Hall, Acoustical Surfaces utilized its Perforated Acoustimetal backed with its Echo Eliminator Recycled Cotton Acoustic Panels. The custom printed acoustical panels were  screen-printed with artwork tailored to fit the theme of the Hall, serving as décor as well as functional acoustical treatment.

The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is not a museum, but a space that commemorates the sacrifices of America’s servicemen and servicewomen who were killed or wounded by enemy action. Before the redesign, the Hall was heavily Army in context, but now it fully represents all branches of military service. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) that supports the mission of the Hall through fundraising efforts and awareness campaigns.

“During the redesign we added several displays with audio in a small space, making it necessary to control the sound,” says Andrew Komonchak, executive director of The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc. “Our exhibit fabricator, Split Rock Studios, brought on the help of Acoustical Surfaces who custom built screen-printed panels to bring our vision to life. We are thrilled with the cohesion the acoustic panels bring to this space.”

Acoustical Surfaces’ Echo Eliminator Recycled Cotton Acoustic Panels allow for noise in the area to be absorbed properly, reducing the reflection points of the wall. The Acoustimetal™ combines the durability of a perforated metal shell with the superior noise control properties of Acoustical Surfaces exclusive nonflammable acoustical material.

“We were on a short timeline to complete this made-to-order project,” says Colin Cook, project manager for Split Rock Studios. “Acoustical Surfaces’ aluminum panels provide a contemporary look, while controlling sound bleed. Our Acoustical Surfaces representative, Kyle Berg, accommodated this short turnaround in a professional and attentive fashion. We are pleased with his availability to speak with us, his genuine care about the project and ultimately, the outcome of the design.”

“We were delighted to be able to deliver our products to the Hall of Honor,” says Kyle Berg, sales associate at Acoustical Surfaces, Inc. “We are proud to provide custom solutions to satisfy individual requests. Delivering first-rate customer service is very important to us, as well as products that satisfy our customers need. We hope that visitors to the hall enjoy the space for its sound quality and design for many years to come.”
