Kicks Off With Amy Helm, Grammy-Winning Daughter of Legendary Levon Helm

Seen in session at TELEFUNKEN’s recording studio are Dan Littleton and Amy Helm with the company’s AR-51 large diaphragm condenser mic.

TELEFUNKEN recently hosted recording sessions with Amy Helm and the Handsome Strangers at the company’s Connecticut studio. The daughter of music legend Levon Helm, she co-produced Levon Helm’s 2007 CD “Dirt Farmer,” which won the Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album, and she is prominently featured on the Levon Helm Band’s “Electric Dirt” and “Ramble at the Ryman” Grammy-winning albums.

Amy Helm’s debut album “Didn’t It Rain,” is available now.  View the “Live from the Lab” session for the single “Didn’t It Rain” and three other video performances at: http://www.telefunken-elektroakustik.com/media/live-from-the-lab.php

Helms is currently touring with the TELEFUNKEN AR-51 multi-pattern tube microphone, as well as the company’s ELA M 260 small diaphragm tube, DD5  drum package, and M80 dynamic mics for live vocals.

Official dubbed the “Live From The Lab” Series, these performances are recorded exclusively with TELEFUNKEN microphones on a 25′ x 50′ soundstage, which is flanked by tech benches that employees use to build and assemble the microphones.

Alan Venitosh, Director of Operations, explained: “The concept is that we have developed a work space that allows our microphones to be designed, built and tested all within a recording studio and sound stage environment. Touring and local musicians are the test subjects and our staff the audio scientists in the name of research and development of our products.”

Artists featured in the upcoming “Live from the Lab” series include Rubblebucket, Turkuaz, Robert Delong, Jon McLaughlin, The Z3, Monroe Crossing, Jessica Childress, Leftover Salmon, Lost Leaders, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, The Lonely Wild and more.
