The Villalobos Brothers and DPA Microphones Set To Close the 2015 NAMM Show

The trio is expected to deliver a vivacious performance using DPA’s d:facto™ and d:vote™ mics

ANAHEIM, JANUARY 22, 2015 – DPA Microphones and the Villalobos Brothers, the contemporary Mexican ensemble known for their debut album Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, have teamed up for the closing performance of the 2015 NAMM Show. Set to hit the GoPro Stage at the Grand Plaza of the Anaheim Convention Center on Sunday, January 25 at 4 p.m., the Villalobos Brothers will perform a unique blend of songs that celebrate the richness of Mexican folk music, with the intricate harmonies of jazz and classical music, which lends perfectly to the natural reproduction of the DPA d:facto™ Vocal and d:vote™ 4099 Instrument Microphones. Attendees are invited to stop by the DPA stand (Hall A, Booth 7113) prior to the performance to see the mics up close.

The Villalobos Brothers, comprised of siblings Luis, Ernesto and Alberto Villalobos, are a trio of renowned vocalists and violin players. The group is supported by band members Humberto Flores on guitar, Rosa Avila on drums and Leo Sherman on bass. Having recently acquired the DPA mics for use in both the studio and during live performances, the group will be using them once again for their upcoming NAMM performance.

“We are all extremely grateful to DPA Microphones for their ongoing kindness,” says Luis Villalobos. “Our relationship with the company began when we discovered the d:vote  Instrument Microphones for our violins. We quickly fell in love with the microphones’ clarity, ease of use and ability to stay put throughout our rigorous performances. Since then, DPA has become more than a mic company to us. We cannot be more excited to use DPA’s mics for our show-closing performance, which will take place in front of many of the industry’s top music professionals who visit NAMM.”

In addition to their NAMM Show performance, the Villalobos Brothers will continue to use DPA’s d:facto and d:vote on the road, with plans to include more of the company’s mics in future set-ups.

Born and raised in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, the Villalobos Brothers have performed at many high-profile events and locations, including Cumbre Tajin, one of the top Latin American music festivals as well as the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York – making them the first Mexican band to perform at the venue. The band’s impressive list of credits also includes the Latin Grammys®, Carnegie Hall and the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations, among others. The group has collaborated with legendary Grammy-winning musicians such as Dolly Parton, Dan Zanes, Pierre Boulez and Eddie Palmieri. The Villalobos Brothers plan to complete a symphonic project in collaboration with Grammy-winning arranger and composer Eduardo Magallanes, in addition to recording a second album early this year.
