The Story Behind Steve Vai’s Story of Light

Legendary guitarist Steve Vai is ramping up for the release of his upcoming album, The Story of Light—a sequel to his last solo studio outing, 2005’s Real Illusions: Reflections. While the collection was being mastered by the namesake of Bernie Grundman Mastering himself, Vai took a few minutes out to chat with pro audio bon vivant (and Pro Sound Network blogger) David “Mr. Bonzai” Goggin for a short video interview.

In a scant few minutes, Vai genially shares insights on everything from recently winning the 2012 Les Paul TEC Award, to collaborating with songwriter/old college buddy Amiee Mann, to upcoming touring plans, to working with Grundman across the span of decades, to even a hint of his next big recording project. This, from a guy whose next album has yet to be released! Bowing August 14, The Story of Light is currently available for online pre-sale orders through Vai’s website.
