AKG Augments Red Bull Air Race

The recent Red Bull Air Race in Rovinj, Croatia had numerous ties to AKG. Most noticeably, Austrian pilot Hannes Arch—a co-creator of AKG AV100 aviation headphones—won the race. But there were other signs of the pro audio manufacturer there, such as the moderator’s AKG wireless microphones, headsets and in-ear monitoring systems.

Rovinj, Croatia (May 30, 2014)—The recent Red Bull Air Race in Rovinj, Croatia had numerous ties to AKG. Most noticeably, Austrian pilot Hannes Arch—a co-creator of AKG AV100 aviation headphones—won the race. But there were other signs of the pro audio manufacturer there, such as the moderator’s AKG wireless microphones, headsets and in-ear monitoring systems.

The system at the Red Bull Air Race featured the AKG DAM+ Series gooseneck microphones, equipped with CK49 capsules for the desks, capturing the sound of live commentators and the winners of the contest.

“Red Bull wanted to bring pristine audio performance and crystal-clear communication to this competition, which is why these AKG systems were perfect solutions for the Red Bull Air Race,” said Walter Rührig, artist & key customer relations, AKG. “In an outdoor environment like this, it is essential that we provided gear like the CK49 with windscreens, to reduce wind and pop noise during interviews and live announcements. The equipment performed perfectly without hiccups, which is a testament to AKG’s reliability.”
