Auralex Panels Hit The Pub

Auralex Acoustics, Elite C44 ProPanels were recently installed at Chatham Tap Restaurant & Pub.

Indianapolis, IN (April 12, 2012)–Auralex Acoustics, Elite C44 ProPanels were recently installed at Chatham Tap Restaurant & Pub.

The English-styled restaurant and pub in Indianapolis, was recently retrofitted with the panels to help absorb additional sound energy throughout the noisy pub. Diners had complained that the pub was so loud, it was difficult to have a normal conversation without shouting to be heard. When the room was measured and examined for reverberation time, it was determined that hanging absorption panels from the ceiling and placing smaller custom panels underneath the chairs would make a significant impact on the noise level.

“We’ve seen an apparent change in how loud it is in our place,” says Jim Ailes, co-owner, Chatham Tap Restaurant & Pub. “I’ve been told on numerous occasions that the panels blend in with the ceiling, which is exactly what we were looking to do. We specifically selected a fabric color that wouldn’t stand out. Our guests don’t notice any difference to our decor, but they definitely hear a difference in the sound level right away.”

Alles, who is also a contractor, worked closely with Auralex on a plan to improve the acoustics of the space, which has plaster walls, a hardwood floor and some brick on the walls. Auralex absorption panels were used from the ceiling to the floor in the 70-seat, 1,200-square-foot room. “There are panels on the ceiling, but then we also have 1’x1′ foot squares that are glued to the underside of our chairs, so the echo from the floor is also deadened.”
