Bonamassa Tours Dust Bowl With EV

Hard-playing blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa is on the road supporting his latest album, “Dust Bowl,” with a passel of Electro-Voice equipment in tow.

New York (November 16, 2011)—Hard-playing blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa is on the road supporting his latest album, Dust Bowl, with a passel of Electro-Voice equipment in tow.

Bonamassa has loaded all his cabinets with EVM12L speakers for years, making their sound part of his tone. Bonamassa and long-time tour manager/FOH engineer Warren Cracknell loaded three fresh 4 x 12 cabinets with more EVM12Ls for the current tour, all set to do duty onstage alongside some newer additions to their EV inventory: multiple RE320 microphones. The latest addition to EV’s RE Performance family of mics, the RE320, updates the familiar RE20.

“We loved the RE320s the first time we heard them,” says Cracknell. “In fact, we put them to work immediately, replacing the mics we had been using on Joe’s cabinets. Just like the EVM12Ls in the guitar cabs, they have a warm, full, transparent character that captures the richness of Joe’s sound perfectly. We’re also using them on the kick drum and Leslie cabinet.

Cracknell added, “We now have EV-equipped rigs around the world, and wherever we are—Europe, Australia or the States—we know that gear will serve us well, show after show, without the failures we’ve experienced from other less heavy-duty speakers and mics. Joe has a big sound, and our equipment needs to keep up. That’s why we work with EV.”
