Clear-Com Visits UNT for Wireless Training

Clear-Com recently visited the University of North Texas (UNT) to co-host an educational session on the basic principles of wireless intercom technologies and applications.

Denton, TX (March 24, 2020)—Clear-Com recently visited the University of North Texas (UNT) to co-host an educational training session on the basic principles of wireless intercom technologies and applications.

The Clear-Com training event, aimed at communications students and technical directors working in stage, live event, news and sports production, was entitled “The Basics of Intercoms in (Mostly) Modern Times.” Martin Dzurenko, UNT’s Media Arts Department chief engineer, and Rom Rosenblum, applications engineer at Clear-Com, ran the event, focusing on providing a real-world view of system set-up and use to the audience of UNT students and local production professionals.

“Many students in the Media Arts Department will come across Clear-Com products over the course of their careers, so we knew this would be a helpful course. Inviting local industry professionals was a way of getting students excited for opportunities beyond the classroom,” said Martin.

The Clear-Com training educational and demo session covered how to set up and use a range of technologies, including the FreeSpeak II wireless intercom system, HelixNet all-digital networked partyline intercom system and LQ Series Interfaces (AoIP). The university recently installed the Agent-IC mobile app—a way to maintain communications needs, remotely, from any iOS or android device—which was also incorporated into the session.

“The goal is for these students to have the most real work experience possible, so we wanted them to be able to interact with the technology, but we also wanted to introduce them to locals in the production business, so they could learn about potential roles, as well as seek out job opportunities,” explained Rom. “We even covered freelancing 101—a 1099 form versus a W2 tax form, professionalism, and rates; things they will be confronted with after graduation.”

Clear-Com has a training program to reach and support its current and future end users, whether students or professionals.
