D.A.S., ProShop Land at Danish Arena

Danish firm ProShop Europe recently updated the Broendby Hallen Arena near Copenhagen, with a new D.A.S.-based audio system.

Copenhagen, Denmark (February 1, 2012)—Danish firm ProShop Europe recently updated the Broendby Hallen Arena near Copenhagen, with a new D.A.S.-based audio system.

The arena, seating for around 5,000, is home to the capital’s own handball team, AG Kobenhavn. Project manager Thomas Duch was assisted by D.A.S. Audio sound projects engineer Eva Argandoña in pre-configuration tasks and the final adjustment and setup of the system.

Given the unique characteristics of the arena, with its uneven stands and other architectural challenges, the studies and simulations carried out by Argandoña led ProShop Europe to install D.A.S.’s Aero, Variant and BiDriver series, according to the needs of the different parts of the arena.

Specifically, two linear formations of six self-powered D.A.S. Aero 12A line array systems each were deployed to cover the highest stands with the most seating. The upper section of this stand, with a roof positioned on six columns, posed acoustic challenges. To avoid the “acoustic shadow” created by these columns, a D.A.S. Variant 112A system was set up on top of each column to take care of the acoustics of the listening area behind these roof supports.

Two linear formations of four self-powered D.A.S. Aero 12A line array systems were installed to cover the opposite stand. A linear formation of five Aero 12A systems in each covers the narrow stands higher up behind the goals. Four D.A.S. BiDriver long-throw systems were installed in a zenithal position on the ceiling of the arena. An SLA-3400 amplifier was selected to supply the corresponding amplification of the signal to these passive systems.

A D.A.S. DSP-4080 processor manages the six clusters of Aero systems and the BiDriver systems positioned on the floor, while the Variant systems positioned on the columns of the main stand are managed using a D.A.S. DSP-2060A processor.
