DiGiCo SD10s Hit Merlefest

DiGiCo’s new SD10 console made its North American debut at Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC

New York (July 5, 2011)—DiGiCo’s new SD10 console made its North American debut at Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC; a pair of the desks had been purchased, sight unseen, by SE Systems, and the event marked their first use.

Held annually at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, Merlefest is one of the largest traditional bluegrass music events in the United States. This year, SE Systems purchased the pair of SD10s and an SD9, along with two DiGiCo SD racks with HMA Optics, to handle the main performance and sidecar stages at the festival.

As the audio director for industry veteran and SE System’s co-owner, Cliff Miller has been on the scene for all of the fest’s 24 years. Miller was looking for new digital consoles that could do 96kHz, when DiGiCo’s national sales manger Matt Larson and Quest Marketing’s Terry Ewald presented the SD9, SD8 and SD7 consoles at an SE Systems road show.

Miller heard about another secret, soon-to-be-released console, the SD10, and decided that it was the one he had to have. Miller notes, “I have been in the industry for a very long time and this is the first time that I have purchased two new consoles—without even putting my fingers on the faders!”
