EM Acoustics Halo Gets Palatial

London, UK (December 18, 2012)—An EM Acoustic Halo Compact system has been install into the People’s Palace, a historic London venue located in the heart of London’s East End. This marks the first time a Halo system has been permanatly installed.

Inaugurated in 1886 as a venue to provide cultural activities to the local population, the venue is now owned by Queen Mary, University of London; the Grade-II listed Queen’s Building (as it is known today) is home to the 750-seat Great Hall. The theatre recently underwent a £5.7m facelift in order to restore it to its former 1930’s art deco glory. The finishing touch to the restoration was a brand-new PA system; the Halo Compact from EM Acoustics, with Jamie Gosney of Stage Electrics providing the design and Martin Woodage project managing the installation.

“The deadlines for this job were crazy,” Gosney recalled. “We came into the project quite late on, largely to see if we couldn’t supply an alternative to their existing quote, which was very expensive. I knew that Ed and Mike were working on the Halo Compact system, and having heard all the initial trials, I was convinced that it would be a much better solution for the Great Hall than the proposal they had at the time. The issue was whether or not we could get them a demo in time, given that the boxes weren’t even built yet…. We were working to very tight deadlines, but from the moment we switched the system on, there were smiles all round.”

The system installed into the Great Hall of the Queen’s Building comprises:
12 Halo-C array elements and 1 x Halo-CS subwoofer per side
1 MSE-156 as far-field center fill
1 MSE-159 as near field center fill
2 EMS-215 subwoofers on stage
4 i-2 front fills
4 EMS-81X as spot loudspeakers/monitors
2 AQ-3 amplifiers
3 AQ-10 amplifiers
