Hollywood, CA (September 22, 2008)–Equator Audio Research will host Searching for Mixing Clarity in Any Environment, an upcoming clinic at the Sam Ash Hollywood location (7360 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles; Tel: 323-850-1050) on Wednesday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m.
The event will focus on the on acoustic challenges that audio engineers face in even the most carefully designed control rooms. The session will feature Grammy Award-winning engineer/producer Francis Buckley and Equator Audio Research President and Founder Ted Keffalo.
The clinic will provide an opportunity for recording engineers of all levels to hear, first hand, the new Equator Audio Q12 studio reference monitors and to get a close look at both Equator Audio’s Equator Control Software, which is included with every Q Series monitor purchase, as well as the Q Series Room Analysis Calibration Kit.
Searching for Mixing Clarity in Any Environment will address the multitude of acoustic challenges that all audio engineers face in the control room. Having great studio monitors is only one element when it comes to mixing and having one’s work translate well to a variety of playback mediums. Numerous additional issues factor into the equation, including secondary reflections created by sound waves bouncing off mixing consoles, computer screens, and other reflective surfaces that, when combined with the original direct sound energy, results in comb-filtering due to phase cancellation. Searching for Mixing Clarity in Any Environment will take a close look at the numerous issues that can compromise one’s ability to achieve an accurate mix.
Recording engineer Francis Buckley, whose credits include work with Quincy Jones, Alanis Morrisette, Aerosmith, and the immensely popular Fox television show American Idol, will, as part of the clinic, introduce attendees to his new DVD, Designing Your Home Studio. As part of his presentation, Buckley, who is fond to point out that, “Even in a beautiful room, there are sonic issues,” will discuss new technology and studio conditioning.
Keffalo, who has a storied history with leading audio companies Alesis and Event Electronics, will demonstrate the new Equator monitors and their sonic analysis and compensation capabilities. The Q Series monitors, which can be found in everyday use by Francis Buckley at Daddy’s House Recording Studio (Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs), the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and with numerous other high profile audio professionals, are rapidly finding a home with many accomplished mix engineers.
