New York, NY (March 13, 2015)—Excited to see basketball played properly, New York City recently hosted the NBA All-Star Weekend, as top players hit the court at both the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. At both venues, Firehouse Productions (Red Hook, NY) provided sound reinforcement systems centered around JBL Professional line arrays and Crown amplifiers.

Madison Square Garden hosted the Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on February 13 and the NBA All-Star Game on February 15. Firehouse provided an audio system with four arrays of 15 VTX V25 loudspeakers each, plus one array of 10 V25 loudspeakers, all hung from the ceiling and situated around the Garden’s main scoreboard. The system also included 12 VTX G28 ground-stacked subwoofers and 16 VerTec VT4886 loudspeakers for fills. A total of 68 Crown I-Tech 4x3500HD and a dozen Crown I-Tech 12000HD amplifiers powered the system, all monitored and controlled with JBL’s HiQnet Performance Manager software.

The Barclays Center, meanwhile, hosted the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge on February 13, while its main activities took place during the State Farm All-Star Saturday night on February 14. These events included the Degree Shooting Stars, the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, the Foot Locker 3-Point Contest and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. For these events, Firehouse provided six arrays of 15 VerTec VT4889 loudspeakers, plus 16 VT4886 loudspeakers for fills.

“When fans from around the world converge in New York City to see the very best talent the NBA has to offer, there is no margin for error when it comes to the technology, so we chose the JBL line arrays and Crown amps based on our success in numerous high-profile events in the past,” said Mark Dittmar, VP of Design and Engineering, Firehouse Productions. “The HARMAN components performed exceptionally in Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center, and all the events that comprised the NBA All-Star Weekend were a tremendous success.”
