London, England (October 28, 2008)–Focusrite/Novation recently won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category for the Automap software and Remote SL keyboard.

Sir Henry Aubrey Fletcher Bt JP, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire, explained at the presentation lunch to much applause, “you can throw away the manual, as the technology identifies all available synthesized sounds, labels them and pops them up on the faders, knobs, buttons and pads, with all available parameters and track names clearly displayed, leaving the operator to get on and create great music.”

As well as highlighting how beneficial the Queen’s Award can be for growing a business, Sir Henry recalled his days at Pan Sound Studios in London’s Denmark Street in 1965, when one night he accidentally wiped the string tracks on a Manfred Mann recording, and had to re-create them from a 2-second snippet for the next day’s session.

Earlier in the year, as part of the prize, Dave Hodder (Automap creator) and Rob Jenkins (Focusrite R&D director) met the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
