Meyer Shows At Telluride

At the 38th Telluride Film Festival this past weekend, Meyer Sound provided an EXP cinema sound system for movie screenings at the festival’s 500-seat theater, the Galaxy.

Telluride, CO (September 7, 2011)—At the 38th Telluride Film Festival this past weekend, Meyer Sound provided an EXP cinema sound system for movie screenings at the festival’s 500-seat theater, the Galaxy.

This marked Meyer Sound’s first year as a corporate sponsor of the Festival. Each year, the Galaxy venue is transformed from a gymnasium at a local middle school into a movie screening room for the festival, which draws thousands of movie enthusiasts, studio executives and talent to the Colorado mountain resort town for four days of complete cinematic immersion.

“We entertain a high caliber of filmmakers and attendees at Telluride Film Festival, who all expect the very best from us,” says Julie Huntsinger, co-director of the festival. “Because of the opportunity we have to work with Meyer Sound and their superior sound equipment for the Galaxy, we are able to meet and exceed those expectations and ensure the best possible experience for our guests.”

The Meyer Sound EXP system for the Galaxy included Acheron screen channel loudspeakers, Acheron LF low frequency loudspeakers, HMS-10 surround loudspeakers, a custom Meyer Sound subwoofer configuration using the 700-HP subwoofers, and a Galileo loudspeaker management system. The SIM 3 audio analyzer was brought in for system optimization.

Acoustical treatments were overlaid with black drapery and an eclectic array of art. This year’s technology upgrade also included a Barco digital cinema projector, Century JJ projectors for film, a Dolby CP650 cinema processor, and Strong MDI projection screen.
