Danville, KY (October 15, 2012)—There’s little that the Republican and Democratic candidates agree on in this year’s race for the White House, but they had at least one thing in common during last week’s 2012 Vice Presidential debate at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky: Vice President Joe Biden and Republican vice presidential nominee Rep. Paul Ryan both wore Audio-Technica microphones.
Larry Estrin, of Best Audio in Studio City, CA, serves as Audio and Production Communications Director for the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) and chose to use Audio-Technica microphones at the event.
Audio-Technica supplied the microphones used on both candidates and the moderator; products used included A-T’s Engineered Sound ES935ML6 MicroLine condenser gooseneck microphones on Biden and Ryan.
A pair of AT898cW subminiature cardioid condenser lavalier microphones with 5000 Series wireless were used for moderator Martha Raddatz, while Audio-Technica’s BP4071 line + gradient condenser microphones were used for room ambience.
Backup mics at the event included AT898cW wireless lavaliers and AEW-T5400 handheld transmitters with 5000 Series wireless for the candidates, and AT898 wired lavalier mics for Raddatz.
