CAD Audio VP Mics
New from CAD Audio’s Astatic Commercial line are the 1600VP (hanging model) and 1700VP (56-inch carbon fiber boom model) condenser mics featuring remote control of polar pattern. The mics are designed for recording or live sound installations; directivity can be changed noiselessly in real-time, even on-the-fly during performances via a small VPC-1 remote box from up to 2,000 feet away using a single 2-conductor shielded cable. Up to six boxes can be mounted in a single rackspace. Specs include a response of 40 to 20k Hz.
Stewart Subcompact Power Amps
Weighing less than one pound, the AV25, CVA-25 and CVA-50 are ultra-compact amps designed to be located in places typically off limits to traditional-size units (including plenums). Optional mounts allow these to be pole-mounted, attached behind flat-panel displays, recessed in lecterns and countless other locations. The AV25 is a stereo, 35watts/channel (into 4-ohm) Class-D amp with a $259 MSRP. The mono CVA-25 (25-watt, $289) and CVA-50 (50-watt, $359) models are also Class-D, but are designed to drive 25/70-volt distributed systems. All are quarter-rack-sized with external inline power supplies.
Blue enCORE Live Sound Mics
Known for its studio mics, Blue unveils its enCORE handheld live vocal mics with thick steel grilles and rugged cast zinc bodies. The $99.99 MSRP enCORE 100 is a dynamic model. The $149.99 enCORE 200 adds Blue’s Active Dynamic circuitry and output transformer, combining the high-SPL handling of a dynamic with the low noise of a phantom-powered mic. The $199.99 enCore 300 has a hand-selected Blue Aria condenser capsule and preamp, with a reinforced chassis that controls airflow around the capsule for a natural, open sound, no matter how the artist holds the mic.
