Rwanda Stadium Opts for One Systems

The Stade Amahoro stadium in Eastern Kigali, Rwanda, has installed a One Systems Direct Weather loudspeaker system as part of its multi-year renovation to expand seating from 30,000 to 50,000.

Nashville, TN (February 20, 2014)—The Stade Amahoro stadium in Eastern Kigali, Rwanda, has installed a One Systems Direct Weather loudspeaker system as part of its multi-year renovation to expand seating from 30,000 to 50,000.

Prosound, a pro audio and lighting distribution company headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, was called upon to design and install a new system that would meet specific requirements—acoustic performance, a weatherproof design that would provide longevity in a tropical climate and the ability to meet the budget, which was limited.

Long-time users of One Systems Direct Weather loudspeaker systems, ProSound decided to install a distributed system consisting of 112IM full weather loudspeakers.

The stadium consists of open North, East and South grandstands with the West having two covered areas on either side of the central covered presidential/VIP stand. In total, 32 112IM 12-inch two-way loudspeakers were installed throughout the stadium. The open grandstands feature 112IMs mounted at the bottom lip playing up and out, while the roofed stands had speakers placed at approximately 10m firing down.

“The advantage of this distributed design is that we have loudspeakers close to the listeners, so SPL levels do not need to overwhelm patrons, and the speakers that fire from the inside out make speeches on the field and the VIP podium highly intelligible,” said Terry Acres, Prosound founder.
