San Diego, CA (July 9, 2014)—Sound Image, audio provider for acts such as Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffet, Taylor Swift, Brian Setzer and John Legend, has purchased a VUE Audiotechnik al-4 Subcompact Line Array System and hs-25 ACM powered subwoofers for its inventory. Sound Image plans to use the new speakers at the Thornton Winery Champaigne Jazz Series in Temecula, CA later this summer.
Leading the production efforts for the winery, Sound Image’s director of Corporate and Regional Events, Rick Stanley, configured four separate al-4 arrays consisting of four elements each. A pair of VUE V4 Systems engines deliver all power and processing for the al-4 arrays, while a pair of VUE h-Class ACM subwoofers provide low frequency support.
“This is an extremely wide venue with two adjacent listening zones at the far left and right of the primary listening area,” explained Stanley. “In addition, the venue faces very strict noise abatement restrictions. The VUE al-4 is really perfect for intimate settings like this. It’s easily scalable, offers really precise horizontal and vertical coverage control, and delivers spectacular sound quality-especially at the high end.”
Stanley is equally pleased with the h-Class subs. “I’ve worked with many subwoofers that deliver great impact, but simply aren’t very musical. The VUE subs do both. I can lean into them and get massive amounts of bass, but they absolutely never lose their musicality.”
