San Francisco, CA (November 8, 2016)—THX Ltd. and Highland Heights, OH-based Eighth Day Sound have partnered to introduce THX Live!, a branded certification program for live event sound. While THX Live first debuted in February with the announcement of Beyoncé’s 2016 Formation World Tour, the partnership’s official introduction formalizes THX’s efforts to qualify and certify quality live sound.

According to the companies, the partnership seeks to improve design, implementation and alignment of audio systems for optimal playback in concert arenas through a premium THX certification program.

THX will work collaboratively to optimize audio systems on specific Eighth Day tours, with the aim of creating a certification reference design for the system architecture and targets for the audio presentation of musical tours. The program will be limited to select artists.

According to THX, music fans who attend a certified performance should expect a wider “sweet spot,” more consistent coverage, improvement to vocal quality and so on.

THX was sold to gaming peripheral manufacturer Razer in mid-October for an undisclosed sum. At the time, THX CEO Ty Ahmad-Taylor announced it planned to aggressively expand its array of certifications to launch new programs for headphones, Bluetooth speakers, streaming video, set-top boxes, connected speakers, augmented reality and virtual reality.
