Westfalen Sound Enters Fourth Decade

Germany (October 9, 2008)--Founded in 1978, Westfalen Sound has become one of Europe’s top audio companies, providing production services to touring, government, commercial and industrial theatre clients for three decades. These days, the company is a division of POOL Group, so when it threw itself a party--four days of training, seminars, product demonstrations, and a retrospective equipment display gallery--the event was aptly titled, “POOL is celebrating 30 years of Westfalen Sound.”

Germany (October 9, 2008)–Founded in 1978, Westfalen Sound has become one of Europe’s top audio companies, providing production services to touring, government, commercial and industrial theatre clients for three decades. These days, the company is a division of POOL Group, so when it threw itself a party–four days of training, seminars, product demonstrations, and a retrospective equipment display gallery–the event was aptly titled, “POOL is celebrating 30 years of Westfalen Sound.”

The occasion was topped off with a large party on Saturday, September 13, attended by more than 400 guests from all over the world. They enjoyed an extended musical evening featuring many performers who have worked with Westfalen Sound from the beginning, including both founding and current members of Udo Lindenberg’s Panikorchester. Some of them had not played together in many years and re-formed exclusively for the event. An enormous multi-channel surround sound system comprising all Meyer Sound loudspeakers and Matrix3 audio show control system delivered the speeches and music to the crowd. The Meyer set-up was apt–Westfalen exclusively uses Meyer systems.

John Meyer, the president and co-founder of Meyer Sound, attended the event, and presented Westfalen CEO Carl Cordier with the gift of a unique hand-made bass guitar custom inlaid with Cordier’s name.

“This is an important milestone for the company, and in some ways is the beginning of the next phase of our growth,” said Cordier. “It was amazing that so many of our friends and clients were able to join us, and of course, I have a new bass guitar to play with as well! It also meant a great deal to us that John Meyer chose to visit us personally.”

Jim Sides, CEO of Meyer Sound Germany, has worked closely with Cordier over the past few years, and felt that Westfalen’s achievement was not coincidence. “Westfalen’s dedication to the industry and passion for excellent sound is widely known in the pro audio world,” said Sides. “It was a wonderful event and we are very happy for everyone at Westfalen.”
