AES News: Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2

Guitar Rig 2 comes with eight amps to choose from.

Among eight other products shown at the recent AES Convention, Native Instruments debuted Guitar RIg 2, an all-in-one software and hardware setup for guitarists and bass players. A wide range of authentically emulated amps and effects are complemented by a robust foot controller with an integrated, studio-quality sound card.

Users can choose from eight amps, 15 guitar and six bass cabinets, four rotary speakers, nine microphones with adjustable positioning and over 40 effects. Drag and drop components into the virtual rack and arrange them into the desired order. A wide range of distortion, modulation, delay, reverb, pitch and volume effects allow the sound to be tuned, twisted and tweaked until the right tones are obtained.

The Rig Kontrol 2 foot-controller has six foot switches and a multi-functional pedal with an extra switch. Integrated into the controller is a high-quality audio interface with inputs optimized for guitar and bass pick-ups. Rig Kontrol 2’s design, construction and aluminium casing ensure it holds its own on demanding stages. Plug in two guitars simultaneously; use the dedicated inputs and MIDI interface to patch in additional pedals and controllers.
