Apogee Electronics in Santa Monica announces The Element Series Thunderbolt audio I/O boxes for Mac: the 10x12 Element 24 ($595), 12x14 Element 46 ($895) and 16x16 Element 88 ($1,495). The new units promise sound quality that is equal to the Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt, offer AD/DA conversion for recording at up to 192kHz/24-bit, built-in mic preamps with selectable 48-volt phantom power, and single-port Thunderbolt connectivity to Mac for ultra-low latency performance.
The Element Series interfaces promise that audio will travel a 1.41ms round-trip at 96 kHz with a buffer setting of 32.New Element Control Software for Mac provides control of all hardware parameters including input gain, output level and low latency monitoring. The new Element Control Mobile App provides wireless remote control of hardware via iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Each unit works with Apogee Control, a desktop hardware remote control accessory, and offers multi-unit Thunderbolt support: connect any two Element audio I/O boxes directly to Thunderbolt ports on a computer.
