Applications for Cinema Audio Society Student Recognition Award

Online submissions are due to the Cinema Audio Society by Friday, November 6, 2015.

The Cinema Audio Society is currently accepting applications for the CAS Student Recognition Award. First presented at the CAS Award Dinner in 2015, this honor comes with a $2,500 cash award and is intended to encourage students’ interest in production or post-production sound mixing, and to recognize individual students with exceptional demonstrated passion for the field.

“Reviewing the applications last year we were thrilled to discover this next generation is passionate and dedicated, and that the future of sound mixing is in good hands and ears!” says CAS President Mark Ulano. “We were happy with the response to this award last year and this year we are hoping for an even greater number of applicants as more schools share the news.”

The selection criteria will focus on the student’s short essays in response to application questions, along with professor’s recommendation letter. All complete applications must be submitted online no later than Friday, November 6, 2015.

Five finalists will be invited to the 2016 Awards dinner, on February 20, 2016, as guests of CAS (travel expenses are not included), where the Student Recognition Award recipient will be announced.

Eligibility for the CAS Student Recognition Award is open to any student enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at an accredited college or university. Students may be pursuing any major but must demonstrate interest and some experience in production or post-production sound mixing for film and television.

Go the CAS Website for complete application guidelines and details.
