Auralex Acoustics Inc. announces that its SpaceArray diffuser has recently passed the requirements of a Class-B fire-rating. The newly rated SpaceArray was showcased at the InfoComm 2007 show in Anaheim, Calif.
Auralex’s SpaceArray has successfully passed testing in accordance with ASTM E84, a standard test for surface burning characteristics of building materials. The test calculates both flame spread and smoke densities. Additionally, the SpaceArray has recently passed acoustical testing in accordance with ISO 17497-1, a standard test method for sound scattering and sound-scattering coefficients.
Designed by Russ Berger for Auralex Acoustics, the SpaceArray combines hemispherical acoustical diffusion with a top quality wood finish.
“We are proud to be able to offer a Class-B fire-rated wood acoustical treatment product for applications having a more stringent fire-code requirement,” says Tracy Chandler, director of worldwide sales for Auralex. “While aesthetics are critical in the products we create, so too are safety and durability. Having successfully passed the fire-rating and acoustical tests enables Auralex to maintain its position as the industry’s leading sound control solution provider.”
