Backstage Productions—a regional touring sound operator that provides sound, lighting, and video for concerts, conferences, corporate industrials and other special events—has a new D.A.S. Audio sound reinforcement system.
According to Brad Brooks (pictured), managing partner for Backstage Productions and a veteran live sound engineer, “We looked at just about every available system on the market. Considering sound quality, build quality, the way the rigging hardware works and several other factors, I’m more convinced than ever the D.A.S. Aero system is one of the most carefully thought-out systems in existence. We consistently receive compliments on the sound quality of our sound system. The sound and the ease of flying and bringing the rig down makes, in my opinion, the D.A.S. Aero system one of the best values in professional audio.”
Backstage Productions’ new Aero system comprises 24 Aero 28A loudspeaker array elements and eight CA-215A subwoofers. Backstage Productions also invested in two D.A.S. Audio DSP-26 audio processors.
Backstage Productions is currently under contract with Alabama Adventure—the Bessemer, Ala.–based company that operates amusement rides and the Splash Beach water park. Brooks and his associates are in the midst of a 14-week engagement to supply sound reinforcement to Alabama Adventure’s weekly concert series, which encompasses a varied lineup of artists including Toby Mac, Taylor Hicks, Aly & AJ, CeCe Winans, Ryan Cabrera and Darryl Whorley.
“All of the guest engineers who travel with the acts have been very impressed with our system,” notes Brooks. “The Alabama Adventure concerts take place in an outdoor amphitheater, and everyone who has worked with our system has been very complimentary. We’re providing both sound and lighting for this concert series, and it’s been very gratifying to receive all the compliments for the system’s sound quality.”
