On October 17, the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) in Los Angeles opened the submissions process for the CAS Awards with a big change this year, announcing that Scoring Mixers will be added to the mix in three categories: Motion Pictures, Television Movie or Mini-Series, and DVD Original Programming.
“I am delighted that the CAS Board is beginning the expansion of our nominee base this year, starting with Scoring Mixers in three of our categories,” says CAS President David E. Fluhr. “Recognizing all mixers who contribute to an outstanding achievement in sound mixing is a longtime goal of the CAS, and we will continue moving forward. In addition, continuing with our promise made two years ago with our CAS ‘green’ goals, our recently updated Website now contains everything awards-related online.”
CAS states that it will announce the 48th Annual CAS Awards nominees on Thursday, January 19, 2012. The CAS Awards presentation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the Crystal Ballroom of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.
