Cinema Audio Society Announces Outstanding Product Awards

CAS to introduce and present Outstanding Product Awards at the 53rd CAS Awards.

The Cinema Audio Society announces that beginning with the 53rd CAS Awards, the organization will honor products that enhance the daily lives of sound mixers by presenting Outstanding Product Awards for both Production and Post-Production. These awards will honor products or workflows that have become very useful in the workplace, and are becoming established as essential tools for the mixing communities working in both production and post-production.

The Outstanding Product Awards will be voted on by the entire CAS membership and is open to products, updates and workflows that have been released within the previous two calendar years.

“As Chair of the Awards Committee for the CAS, I am very pleased that we have augmented the Technical Achievement Awards that have been awarded in the past into the Outstanding Product Awards as they more succinctly express the honor and the intention of these annual awards,” says CAS Board member Bob Bronow. “We couldn’t do what we do without so many amazing products that allow us to do our best work. It’s great so see them getting much-deserved recognition.”

The 53rd CAS Awards will be presented in a sealed envelope ceremony Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza in the Bunker Hill Ballroom, located in downtown Los Angeles.

The CAS previously announced that Production Mixer John Pritchett, CAS, would be honored with the CAS Career Achievement Award.

In addition to the Outstanding Product Awards and the CAS Student Recognition Award, the evening will also honor Outstanding Achievements in Sound Mixing in seven categories: Motion Pictures; Animated Motion Pictures; Documentary Motion Pictures; Television Movies and Mini-Series; Television Series-One Hour; Television Series-Half Hour; and Television-Non-Fiction, Variety or Music Series or Specials. The winners of the CAS Technical Achievement Awards for Production and Post-Production will also be announced at the dinner.
