FOR-A Corporation FRC-7000 HD Frame-Rate Converter Supports Dolby E

FOR-A Corporation, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, announces that its FRC-7000 HD frame-rate converter is now available with support for Dolby E digital audio.

Including this function within the FRC-7000 3RU equipment rack not only removes the need for additional peripheral audio processing but also ensures that the audio keeps in step with the converter’s video output. With many live music and sports events now available in Dolby 5.1—the audio standard for mastering DVDs, HD-DVDs and Blu-ray disc—Dolby E coding is increasingly used in the transport of program audio.

With the Dolby E data locked to the video frames, it must be decoded with the input frames and recoded locked to the output video frames. As the input and output are always different frame rates, this can add to the complexity when using separate external Dolby E handling.

The FRC-7000 HD frame-rate converter’s audio capabilities also include 8-channel, 24-bit/48kHz embedded audio and AES/EBU digital audio, allowing asynchronous and synchronous digital audio inputs with four-channel stereo processing. All provide a delay for synchronization with video processing and fit inside the FRC-7000 frame.
