db audioware has released two new dynamics processing plug-ins: Sidechain Compressor and Sidechain Gate ($84/each or $126/both). The plug-ins are available for Mac OS X in VST and Audio Units formats, as well as for Windows in VST format, including VST 2.4 support.
Both plug-ins feature db audioware’s Universal Sidechains feature, offering true multitrack sidechain operation in most Mac and Windows audio programs, independent of the native routing offered by the host software itself. This process allows one track to control the dynamics of another track. Traditional applications range from broadcast voice ducking to gating drum tracks for removing crosstalk. Sidechain Compressor and Sidechain Gate are also aimed at more creative applications, such as synchronized gating and other complex mix techniques found in dance-music production and electronic music.
The plug-ins offer new compression and gating algorithms that promise to deliver an authentic analog sound with low distortion. The plug-ins also work as normal channel insert effects. EQ and Shape controls permit radical and fine-tuning of the plug-ins’ dynamic response and character. Compressor Auto Gain with brickwall limiter supports extreme compression settings with little or no distortion. The plug-ins also offer dual metering and a Listen mode for monitoring the sidechain signal.
