Dowlen Sound Upgrades With Drawmer 1968ME

Bret Dowlen’s Dowlen Sound (Denver) has added two new Drawmer 1968ME 2-channel analog compressors to his rental inventory.

Bret Dowlen’s Dowlen Sound (Denver) has added two new Drawmer 1968ME 2-channel analog compressors to his rental inventory.

“The two Drawmer 1968MEs are going to be installed into our two A-system drive racks,” explains Dowlen. Each of the stereo compressors will be inserted into the mixing console’s main output signal path immediately before the loudspeaker processing system.

The Drawmer 1968ME (Mercenary Edition), which has just started shipping, features the company’s 1969M’s compressor design in a new single-rackspace box designed especially for live, recording and broadcast 2-bus applications. The new 1968ME incorporates the same JFET circuitry with variable tube output stages as its predecessor and also features improved VU metering with LED indicators, sidechain features and a switch that removes the program’s low-frequency component from path of the gain-reduction cell.

Dowlen Sound has been supplying sound equipment for touring artists playing the area’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre since 1984. The Coors Amphitheatre, formerly known as Fiddler’s Green (located just outside Denver), is another regular client.
