EAW Element Series of Weatherproof Speakers

The new Element Series from Eastern Acoustic Works is composed of acoustically inert, waterproof enclosure material and high-impact polypropylene with 40-percent calcium carbonate. Shaped into enclosures with few or no parallel surfaces, this new material makes the Element Series sonically indistinguishable from EAW’s laminated Baltic Birch enclosures.

EAW recently introduced four new Element Series compact two-way loudspeakers at PLASA. The LM60 includes a soft-dome tweeter on a Waveguide Plate™ and a 6.5-inch woofer. The LM80 pairs a Waveguide Plate-loaded compression driver with dual 6.5-inch woofers. A perforated steel grille with open-cell 60ppi foam protects the drivers; a 10,000 pores-to-the-inch stainless-steel water barrier is also available. A further option for extreme conditions is a waterproof input panel: The standard recessed phenolic panel with barrier strip inputs is covered by an 1/8-inch aluminum plate with waterproof gland-seal nuts for the input cables, secured to the enclosure by stainless-steel screws and a waterproof gasket.

Simultaneously, EAW is introducing the JF60z and JF80z, which include the same drivers, Waveguide Plate, crossover/filter network and enclosure design, but in the EAW standard of cross-grain laminated Baltic Birch.
