Harman Professional Appoints TJ Smith General Manager, Signal Processing Business Unit

Harman Professional has appointed Timothy (TJ) Smith (pictured) to lead its Signal Processing Business Unit, overseeing all aspects of the BSS Audio, dbx, Lexicon Professional and DigiTech brands. He will be based in the company’s offices in Sandy, Utah, and report directly to John Fitzgerald, Vice President and General Manager of Harman Professional, Signal Processor/Amplifier Business Units.

Smith joined Harman Professional in 2000 and has been appointed to increasingly senior positions, most recently serving as Senior Director, China Operations, where he was responsible for new product development, engineering and all general business activity for Harman Professional’s China office.

“In making this appointment, Harman Professional is drawing on our considerable base of internal talent,” Fitzgerald says. “By promoting TJ Smith, we’re putting a proven leader with deep market experience, strong technology expertise and a keen understanding of customer needs in charge of an important business unit and providing him with a broad but clear mandate for innovation, integration and growth.”

“I look forward to the opportunity to lead the Signal Processing Business Unit,” Smith says. “We have a strong team in place and I am excited about strengthening this business unit and Harman Professional’s position as market leaders, especially in the rapidly growing installed and networked audio markets.”

Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Oral Roberts University and an MBA from Indiana University, South Bend.
