Houston native and music legend Johnny Nash made a long-awaited return to music—after taking a hiatus from the spotlight—at SugarHill Recording Studios in Houston, Texas. Johnny Nash’s 1972 hit “I Can See Clearly Now” topped the billboard charts for four weeks and continues to receive international radio airplay; it was successfully covered by Jimmy Cliff in 1994. Nash has also collaborated with many prominent artists throughout his career, including Bob Marley, who wrote the chart-topping hit for Nash, “Stir It Up,” in 1972.
Nash has been working with chief engineer Andy Bradley in SugarHill’s Studio A, where they’ve already mixed one song and are in the process of transferring songs that were tracked from the late ’70s to early ’80s on 2-inch analog tape to Pro Tools.
Bradley has worked with many legends that have passed through SugarHill’s doors, including Roy Head, Radio Birdman, Smash Mouth, James Burton, Guitar Shorty, Sonny West, John Pickering (Buddy Holly songwriter and backup singer), Arnett Cobb and Calvin Owens.
“It’s such a privilege to work with Johnny. He’s an astounding singer and possibly one of the best male vocalists I’ve ever worked with”, Bradley said of his working experience with Nash.
