L-Acoustics’ compact SB15P subwoofer is designed as a companion low-frequency device for the company’s new P Series (108P and 112P) self-powered coaxial loudspeakers. The sub features a front-loaded 15-inch transducer loaded in an optimized sized/tuned vented enclosure.
The SB15P provides a 1,000-watt (continuous, 8 ohms) Class-D amplifier module and dedicated onboard DSP with application-engineered presets. The system’s 15-inch component features elevated power handling and excursion capability, along with reduced distortion and thermal power compression.
The sub measures in at 17.5×20.5×20.5 (HxWxD) inches, and offers an operating bandwidth of 45 to 100 Hz (± 3dB) with a usable low frequency of 40 Hz (-10 dB).
A built-in pole-mount socket is provided, facilitating the creation of a compact FOH system when the SB15P is used with 108P or 112P enclosures. An adjustable U bracket is available as an optional rigging accessory (for ceiling, wall, scaffold or truss mounting).
The cabinet, finished with a highly resilient maroon-gray paint, is constructed of 18mm Baltic birch and internally braced with steel corner plates and joints that are sealed, screwed and rabbeted to remain free of vibration at extreme SPLs. Weighing just less than 80 pounds, the enclosure features two recessed grips on the sides for handling.
The rear panel sports two parallel XLR input connectors with a rotary gain pot, PowerCon AC power connectors with a slider switch for 115V or 220V operation, and four pushbuttons for accessing the application-engineered DSP presets (crossover filtering and system EQ). A black powder-coated 1.5mm steel grille covered with an acoustically transparent grille cloth protects the front of the enclosure.
